The Home Planning Process

Planning a House starts with dreaming about the home you want to live in.

Your home becomes more real as the design line is drawn. Drafting tables are a thing of the past. Even CAD is being replaced by Building Information Modeling, BIM. Every wall, foundation, roof, room, window, door, and cabinet has properties to describe it. AI is still in its infancy and needs an experienced designer to set the parameters and validate the design process.

Once you have the design, it is time to build. Builders appreciate well-thought-out designs and the time-saving material list, schedules for windows, doors, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing fixtures. 

Homes today are held to higher standards than 20 years ago.  Plan reviewers are requiring more documentation of building tightness, HVAC design, and overall energy efficiency.
